Say your pay agreement lists $0.26 per barrel and $0.55 per mile. You're given a load of 185 barrels, 45 loaded miles to the terminal. Enter those and this load shows:

How crude hauler pay works
Most crude oil carriers pay a rate for every barrel hauled plus a rate for every loaded mile driven from the tank battery to the terminal, pipeline, or disposal well. Standby or wait time — at the lease or the rack — is usually paid separately at an hourly rate.
Every load is different — a different number of barrels going a different distance, usually to a different place. That is why this tool figures one load at a time: check the load you were given, then add it to your day total. Adding up your real loads is accurate; multiplying a single load by a number of loads is not, because no two loads pay the same.
